Stanley’s True Value

True Value is one of the worlds biggest, member owned cooperatives who are in 58 countries and over 4000 retail locations according to true Value’s website.  While I was in Manayunk Pennsylvania and saw the American Flag proudly flying in front of the Stanley’s True Value. I had to stop and take a picture. Since I stopped to take a picture I had time to go inside and look around. I was approached by an employee with a smile while I was in the store looking around. As I shopped around and saw all the items they sold I could not stopped thinking about how us Americans are doers. True Value and other home improvement centers sell things to customers so they can get things done.

We are not afraid to get are hands dirty. Stanley’s True Value sells paint, tools, barbecue grills and yes American Flags. I also was thinking about the owners or cooperatives had the guts to start a business. The American dream, the freedom to start a business, any business. In conclusion here are some quotes to inspire you. So go start your dream business today.

Nothing else says American like Harley-Davidson. Here is a picture of Harley-Davidson proudly flying the American Flag at their Kansas City plant. This powertrain Operations plant is over 350 thousand square feet. The Kansas City Plant produces the Sportster®, StreetTM , V-Rod®, Dyna® and among others.

Harley-Davidson 100 Years of History

There is over 100 years of history of Harley-Davidson. In the beginning of the 1900’s William S. Harley and Arthur Davidson produce the first Harley Davidson which expand to their many models today. By 1914 the United States Postal Service was using instead of the bicycle. Eventually, the Unite States Army saw good use for Harley-Davidson. Check out their History right here from their site www.harley-davidson.com

Boyhood Friends

Two boyhood friends named William S. Harley and Arthur Davidson started their business from a 10 by 15 shed. Two friends who had an vision to put a motor on a bicycle to make travel easier and quicker. See more from an article from entrepreneur.com

The Shed

What sticks out for me is how many American businesses start out. Like the story about Harley-Davidson, it started in a 10 by 15 shed. Just think how many companies start out in garages, basements, sheds and even the kitchen table. I knew a business who drew an idea on a napkin at a bar. Americans just do it. We do what have to no matter where it is. We work with what we have. We start with an idea and build from there.

To me when a company fly’s that american flag they don’t forget of the men and women who gave their life to have that freedom to start an idea and build it. So we can start our own idea in a garage, basement and a shed.

Peterson Manufacturing

American Flag At Peterson Manufacturing. Peterson manufacturing was founded in 1945. Peterson manufacturing started as a small company. Today Peterson manufacturing company is an industry front runner. Peterson Manufacturing is manufacturer of vehicle safety lights. I first notice their made in American packaging while I was shopping in a big box store. They also manufacture interior lights reflectors, wire harnesses and much much more. I like this picture of Peterson Manufacturing, home location proudly Flying the American Flag.

Recently, I try to notice the stores I shop at if the products are made in America. I lot of people say not much is made in this country and that may be true, but you would be surprise that more than you might think, products are made in America. This post and blog is not about products made in America but more about entrepreneurship and proudly flying the American flag.

Here is an entrepreneur quote. Exploration is the engine that drives innovation. Innovation drives economic growth. So let’s all go exploring.

American Flag on an antique Tractor

American Flag on Tractor

American businesses come in all sizes, as Americans it seams that most of us are born as natural entrepreneurs. We are always thinking out of the  box. We are survivalist, always looking for a ways to survive financial or just make things better. I know I take pictures of American companies big or small but I just had to take a picture of this American Flag Flying on an antique farm tractor. Maybe this is not a business (although they do sell fire wood) but I just had to take this picture. I love the idea of hanging an American Flag on an antique tractor. John Deere made things better for American farmers. At the age of 17 john Deere was a black smith in Vermont. he latter move to Illinois to look for work. John Deere heard from farmers complaining that their plows were breaking in the hard soil in Illinois. john know he could make it better. He redesigned and made the plow out of steel not the cast iron plows the farmers where using. Check out this link, nicks history of antique tractors.
